It was a wide open space and it was too hard to resist, so I just did it. I took off my flip flops, kicked up into a handstand and started walking down the aisle on my hands right in the middle of Costco. The other shoppers must’ve thought, “That woman is crazy! She really should act her age.” Well, I am acting my age. At 52 years old, it’s who I’ve become and I’m pretty happy with it. I’ve found the fountain of youth and I drink from it daily. It’s called CrossFit.
It’s been just over two years since I walked into CrossFit 760 and the journey has been incredible. From the beginning Casey encouraged me and told me that there are no limitations because of my age. All I needed to do was to keep showing up and to work hard every time I walk through the doors. That’s what I did and my whole world opened up. As of late, I’ve been accused of being “handstand-obsessive” and this is true, I admit it. In fact, I am obsessed with being able to move and discovering what I’m capable of in the gym and in life. I love being strong and fit and confident. By working hard and staying consistent, I’ve been able to do things now that I’ve never done before. Every time I walk into the gym, I get younger – mentally and physically. It’s truly a gift that I give myself every day and I never take it for granted.
I’ve been blessed with good health and a desire to stay fit and active. When I add to this CrossFit, a great coach and a gym full of people who inspire me, I’d say this is an amazing set-up for the “Golden Years”. Fifty-two feels pretty darn good and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead!
